Sergio Aguero injured in road accident

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero has been involved in a road accident in Amsterdam. The 29-year-old is reported to have been on his way to the airport in a taxi, which crashed in the De Boelelaan area of the Dutch capital.

A statement on the official Man City website read: “Sergio Aguero will be assessed by Club doctors today after being involved in a road accident on Thursday.”

“The City forward was in Holland on his day off and has sustained injuries.”

“He will return to Manchester this morning and his status will be checked ahead of tomorrow’s Premier League clash at Chelsea.”

It remains unclear how bad the injuries Aguero has sustained are, but he could be a major doubt for this weekend’s showdown between the Sky Blues and Chelsea.

Aguero has been a star performer for Manchester City year on year, and his absence would be a massive blow to Pep Guardiola. The striker has scored seven goals in eight games for City so far this season, making him once again one of the most prolific strikers in the league.

City sit top of the Premier League table, but pressure is starting to creep up as defender Benjamin Mendy could be set to face a long spell on the sidelines – and now Aguero is a worrying doubt.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish Sergio all the best in his recovery.
