Shearer “Certain” That Premier League Title Race Will Come Down To Battle Between Two Clubs

Alan Shearer still expects either Manchester City or Liverpool to win the Premier League despite the unpredictable nature of some of the games this season.

The likes of Leicester, Spurs, Chelsea and even Southampton are keeping pace at the top of the table after eight games but, despite the number of contenders currently, Shearer believes the title race will come down to a two-horse race once again:

“Liverpool can still terrify teams when they pour forward and, like Man City, they are not going away anytime soon. This season may be unpredictable, but one of them will end it as champions, I am certain of that.”

The quality on show, particularly in the first half, during the 1-1 draw between City and Liverpool yesterday does suggest that the two clubs are still the best teams in the division.

Of course, injuries and the intense fixture schedule will mean neither side are likely to match their points totals of recent years but Shearer has seen enough from City and Liverpool to claim they are the favourites.

The odds at the bookmakers certainly back up this point, with the likes of Betfair currently pricing both clubs at 7/5 to win the title.
