Souness Says Both City And United “Would Love” To Sign 31 Year Old Who Has Been A “Revelation” This Season

TV pundit Graeme Souness believes both Manchester City and Manchester United would like to have Leicester City defender Jonny Evans in their ranks this season.

The 31-year-old has been part of a defensive unit which is currently the joint best in the Premier League, and Souness feels the centre-back has been a star performer for the Foxes:

“Jonny Evans has been a revelation and both Manchester clubs would love him right now. If he and their other key players stay fit, Leicester will be there or thereabouts.”

City are unlikely to make a move for a defender in the January transfer window. They have been linked with Paris Saint-Germain’s Marquinhos in recent days but manager Pep Guardiola has stated that there are no plans to make signings next month.

Aymeric Laporte is also closing in on a return to full fitness, which will strengthen the Citizens’ shaky backline. The Frenchman has been out since late August due to a knee injury he sustained in the win against Brighton but he could be back in action within the next three to four weeks.
