Spain Coach Tips £80m Rated Valencia Ace For City Move

Spain Under 19 head coach Santi Denia has tipped Valencia winger Ferran Torres to make the move to Manchester City.

The 20-year-old’s current deal at the Mestalla expires at the end of next season and when asked about his potential next destination, Denia mentioned City as one of the clubs he could see him playing for.

“I see him at Valencia, who are a top-level team, or at [Manchester] City, who are a team that are normally in the Champions League. City, Barcelona, [Real] Madrid.”

“He knows that he can continue to grow at Valencia. It’s clear he’s grown up at Valencia and loves that club. He has been cared for, trained… Now it’s [down to] interest.”

“Are Ferran and Valencia interested in going out? Well, they’ll come to an agreement. Will he renew or not? These are negotiations at the highest level.”

Torres has been heavily linked with Liverpool in recent months with the midfielder likely to be available for a cut-down price this summer.

The Spanish Under 21 international does have a €90m (£80m) release clause but that is unlikely to be matched by any club, considering his contract situation and the current financial climate.

Whether City would look to sign Torres, it is up for debate. A new winger may well be needed if Leroy Sane leaves for Bayern Munich but, unlike the German, the Valencia star plays mostly from the right-hand side, rather than on the left flank.
