Borussia Dortmund sporting director Sebastian Kehl has suggested that Erling Haaland‘s move to Manchester City could be confirmed within the next seven days.
Reliable reports in the English and German media this morning have claimed that the Norwegian’s switch is all but completed, with a deal likely to be confirmed once City officially trigger the striker’s €75m (£64m) release clause. Asked about the situation, Kehl was pretty frank with his response:
“I think there will be clarity in the next week. I wouldn’t be surprised if he moved on in the end.”
City are expected to pay Haaland around £500,000 a week when the 21-year-old does seal his move to the Etihad. Other clubs, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Barcelona have been credited with an interest in the striker, but it is believed that the final decision came down to a straight choice between the Citizens and Real Madrid.
With City appearing to have won the race for Haaland’s signature, it seems that there won’t be any last-minute hitches if Kehl’s remarks are to believed.
