“Still the best player at City” – fans pay tribute to David Silva after Stoke City brace

Manchester City fans have praised superstar midfield David Silva after his brace in the 2-0 win over Stoke City last night.

The Spaniard scored both goals as City extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table to 16 points.

Silva opened the scoring at the bet365 after just ten minutes when he found the bottom corner, slotting home Raheem Sterling’s ball across the box after some brilliant play in from Gabriel Jesus.

And Silva got his and City’s second of the night only five minutes into the second half, with he, Sterling and Jesus again linking up superbly to scythe upon the Stoke defence.

The Spaniard could have a hat-trick late on, but curled home just wide from the edge of the box.

Silva’s brace means he has now scored four times in his last five appearances for City after having found the net in each of his side’s recent 3-0 wins over Arsenal.

The two goals also see the 32-year-old’s goal total for the season rise to nine in all competitions – his second best ever in a Sky Blue shirt behind the 12 he scored during the 2014/15 season.

After an influx of talent over the past two summers, many thought Silva would be one of a number of veteran’s, including both Yaya Toure and Vincent Kompany, who would find their position in Pep Guardiola’s squad threatened.

However while most of the former City old guard have seen themselves take a backseat at The Etihad, Silva remains one of the club’s key, and most talented, players.

The City fans simply love him …
