Sutton Questions Why City Star Isn’t Real Madrid’s No.1 Target Ahead Of Hazard

TV pundit Chris Sutton believes Real Madrid should be targeting Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling ahead of Chelsea’s Eden Hazard this summer.

The 24-year-old has been in fine form for Pep Guardiola’s side over the past two years, and Sutton thinks the England international would be a better option for Real manager Zinedine Zidane:

“You have to say that Raheem Sterling is now world class If you were Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, surely you would want to buy him over Eden Hazard. Is there anything Sterling cannot do?”

“His weight of pass is superb, his movement off the ball is lethal and he has become deadly in front of goal…. Sterling is one of the hottest properties in world football. If I was Real Madrid, I’d be making him my No1 target.”

The stats certainly back up Sutton’s point. Sterling has three more goals and five more assists than Hazard this season and is four years younger than the Belgian.

However, Zidane is a well-known admirer of the Chelsea star and Hazard has also expressed his desire to play under the French legend.

There is no such connection between Sterling and the Real Madrid boss, and there have been no recent reports that the La Liga giants will be pursuing the City winger.

Other than that, Sutton’s praise for Sterling is pretty much spot on. He is by far the most in-form player in the Premier League at the moment.
