Nottingham Forest right-back Djed Spence has the ability to play for Manchester City, according to teammate Lyle Taylor.

The 21-year-old is currently on loan from Middlesbrough but Taylor says he doesn’t believe he can persuade the defender into moving to the City Ground on a permanent basis, with the player destined to play at a higher level:

“Not even Agent Lyle can save this deal now… Next stop Man City”

Both Arsenal and Tottenham were linked with Spence in the local media on deadline day last month, with Boro said to be willing to offload the fullback for a fee between £12m and £15m.

Whether City would get involved in the battle for the player, it seems unlikely at this stage. Manager Pep Guardiola already has two very talented right-backs at his disposal in Kyle Walker and Joao Cancelo, and Spence would struggle to get any game time.

A move to the Premier League could well happen in the next six to twelve months but he won’t probably end up at the Etihad.
