Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is certainly not afraid of mocking himself. Following City’s win against Dinamo Zagreb, he shared a picture of him shooting with a very unflattering expression.
The 24-year-old compared it to some of the photos taken of Manchester United defender Phil Jones over the years:
Phil Jones would be proud ??? pic.twitter.com/tiWXXYgCxm

Fans on Twitter were loving Sterling’s sense of humour but they don’t think he can match the standards set by Jones:
That’s a cracker. No one will ever beat Phil Jones though. Ever!! ? pic.twitter.com/iCEbOLp1yP

Sterling is certainly not in Phil Jones’ league when it comes to looking a bit goofy, but unlike the United centre-back, his talent means such photos will be playfully ribbed rather than cruelly mocked.
The City winger didn’t get on the scoresheet last night after coming on as a substitute, but he has certainly been the team’s standout player this season. His 15 goals and five assists in 23 appearances have made it an excellent campaign for him so far, and fans will be hoping he can get on the scoresheet once again when they face Arsenal on Sunday.
