The FOUR Hidden Gems That Could Be Unearthed At The World Cup

With the World Cup just around the corner, we thought it would be a good idea to shine a light on some young players who could light up the competition.

You usually see at least one youngster who seemingly comes out of nowhere to make an impression at a major tournament.

In today’s list, we have decided to look at some of the teenagers who could well make a name for themselves by performing for their countries in Qatar.

Press the next page as we list four hidden gems that may be uncovered at the World Cup.

Antonio Silva – Portugal

The teenage centre-back kept Kylian Mbappe at bay playing for Benfica in the Champions League group stages, and he is already attracting interest from the likes of Manchester United.

Silva has only made 18 senior appearances but his talent led Portugal boss Fernando Santos to include him in his 26-man squad despite the fact that he has never been capped at international level.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku – Ghana

The winger only made the switch to Sporting Lisbon from his native Ghana in the summer, and he has very limited experience at first-team level, despite being highly regarded.

Issahaku has already been capped 13 times by his country and he will likely play a prominent role in the World Cup group stages where he will come up against the likes of Portugal, South Korea and Uruguay.

Zeno Debast – Belgium

The defender is part of a new generation of Belgian talent which is set to take over from the old guard. He currently plays for Anderlecht, having made his senior debut in May last year.

Debast is a ball-playing centre-half and he could well be called upon to feature at the World Cup, having played the full 90 minutes in two UEFA Nations League fixtures back in September.

Bilal El Khannouss – Morocco

The 18-year-old has broken into Genk’s first team this season and, despite his young age, he has been entrusted with the no.10 role. He is an excellent passer, and he could be handed the role of playmaker as Morocco look to overcome the likes of Belgium and Croatia.

El Khannouss was actually born in Belgium, so he will be coming up against the country of his birth if he is chosen to start by manager Walid Regragui.
