The Premier League Players Who Have Made The Final 80 Man Shortlist For The 2022 Golden Boy Award

Tuttosport have revealed their 80-man shortlist for this year’s Golden Boy awards and ten players from Premier League teams made the cut.

The prize is handed out by journalists for the most promising young player in Europe, with previous winners including the likes of Erling Haaland, Wayne Rooney and Lionel Messi.

Only one defender (Matthijs de Ligt) has been given the accolade since its inception in 2003, and the top 80 is once again dominated by midfielders and forwards.

Fans can nominate their winner by heading to Tuttosport‘s website, but if you want to find out which starlets from English clubs are on the list, press the next page.

Joe Gelhardt – Leeds

After scoring two goals in 22 appearances for the Whites last season, the striker will be looking to build on his breakthrough year.

Kacper Kozlowski – Brighton

The Polish international was signed by the Seagulls in January before being loaned out to Union Saint-Gilloise. It will be interesting to see whether Graham Potter opts to give him some first-team minutes this campaign.

Fabio Silva – Wolves

The Portuguese forward is a surprise inclusion in the top 80, considering his struggles for Wolves in the Premier League. He has now been loaned to Belgian club Anderlecht.

Pape Matar Sarr – Tottenham

The youngster was named African Young Player of the Year last week, but there is a feeling that he could be loaned out by Spurs again, after spending last season with Metz.

Harvey Elliott – Liverpool

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp gave the midfielder plenty of starting opportunities in the opening weeks of the 2021/22 season but a broken ankle halted his progress. It remains to be seen if he will get more minutes this campaign with there being plenty of competition for places.

Fabio Carvalho – Liverpool

The playmaker played a key role in helping Fulham gain promotion but Liverpool took advantage of his contract situation to sign him for only £8m. He is expected to be a squad player for the Reds this year.

Yan Couto – Manchester City

The Brazilian youth international impressed during a spell with Braga last season and he has now been loaned out to City’s feeder club in Spain, Girona.

Cole Palmer – Manchester City

Injuries curtailed the winger from making more of an impact during the 2021/22 campaign but the departure of Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus may mean he will get more game time.

Alejandro Garnacho – Manchester United

The teenager made his debut against Chelsea last season, and he has already been in and around Argentina’s senior squad. Much is expected of the winger.

Anthony Elanga – Manchester United

The Swedish international came to prominence under interim head coach Ralf Rangnick last season and it will be interesting to see whether he can kick on under Erik ten Hag.
