The TOP FIVE Best Paid Players In The Premier League (As Of May 2023)

Erling Haaland

The salaries of Premier League players have skyrocketed over the past couple of decades.

Elite footballers are now earning anything between £200k and £400k per week at their clubs, and that doesn’t include performance-related bonuses.

TV revenue and sponsorship deals help to finance the eyewatering wages and you can’t get away from the fact that the money plays a huge factor in attracting top talents to these shores.

Press the next page as we list the five best paid players in England (based on data from Capology.com)

=4) Casemiro (Manchester United) – £350,000 A Week

It is believed that the Brazilian almost doubled his salary when he left Real Madrid for Old Trafford last summer.

Casemiro has certainly proven to be a worthwhile addition so far but the fact that he is in the Premier League’s top five biggest earners does suggest United have, once again, paid over the odds.

We could have included Jadon Sancho on this list, with the England international being on similar wages, and it does show you how loose with the purse strings the Red Devils can be when negotiating deals with players.

=4) Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – £350,000 A Week

The Egyptian international became the highest earner in Liverpool’s history when he signed a three-year contract extension last July.

Salah subsequently made a slow start to the season, which led to questions over whether the lucrative new deal had affected his desire to play football.

However, those claims have proven to be without foundation, as the forward has now gone on to score 30 goals in all competitions.

=2) David De Gea (Manchester United) – £375,000 A Week

The Spaniard may not be on this salary for much longer if reports are to be believed.

De Gea’s current deal at United expires at the end of June and, while he is still expected to sign an extension, it has been suggested that he will agree to take a pay cut.

How much his current wage will be reduced by, we still don’t know, but he is likely to drop out of the Premier League’s top five earners.

=2) Erling Haaland (Manchester City) – £375,000  A Week

The Norwegian joined the reigning champions from Borussia Dortmund last summer for £51m, but his salary demands reportedly put off many of the other teams who were pursuing him.

Haaland’s basic wage is said to be £375k a week, but, with bonuses, he could well take home a lot more money than that.

City fans will believe he is worth every penny, though, considering the record-breaking goalscoring numbers he has racked up during his first season at the Etihad.

1) Kevin De Bruyne – £400,000 A Week

Remarkably, it is believed that the Belgian international negotiated his own contract before he put pen to paper on his last deal just over two years ago.

It seems that De Bruyne did an outstanding job when he agreed to sign an extension as he remains the highest earner in the Premier League.

Like with Haaland, though, supporters will hardly be complaining, considering his outstanding performances for the Citizens.
