The TOP FIVE Favourites For The PFA Player Of The Year Award

Haaland

As we near the end of the season, attention will soon be drawn towards the potential winner of the PFA Player of the Year.

There is certainly a standout candidate for the accolade, who has been racking up the goals and breaking records this campaign.

However, there are plenty of other players who have put a strong case forward for themselves off the back of some very impressive performances.

Press the next page as we list the five favourites to become Player of the Year (based on bookmaker odds).

5) Kevin De Bruyne

Some may be surprised to see the Belgian in the top five, above someone like Tottenham’s Harry Kane, considering he hasn’t had the best season.

Of course, even a slightly off-colour De Bruyne is still better than 95% of the players in the Premier League, and he has looked impressive in specific matches, such as in the 4-1 win over Liverpool.

Whether the City star will get his third award in four years, though, it is doubtful at the moment, unless he catches fire in the final few weeks of the campaign.

4) Marcus Rashford

Some may have thought that the United forward would rank higher, considering his exploits in front of goal this season.

Rashford is currently fourth in the Premier League scoring charts with 15 goals, having bagged 28 in all competitions for the Red Devils.

Whether he has done enough to convince his fellow professionals that he deserves the PFA award, though, it’s unlikely.

3) Bukayo Saka

The 21-year-old has been a key component of Arsenal’s unlikely title charge this campaign, contributing some crucial goals and assists along the way.

Saka is actually averaging a goal involvement every 110 minutes in the Premier League, which is some going for a player who is ostensibly a winger.

If the Gunners do go on to finish first, you would think that he will be a strong contender for Player of the Year, along with the next person on our list.

2) Martin Odegaard

It really has been a breakout season for the Norwegian international, who really struggled to set the Premier League alight in his first eighteen months in England.

Odegaard already has seven more contributions than he managed in the entirety of last season in the league, and there are still ten games to go.

The Gunners captain has truly led by example and it has been fantastic to see him develop into an outstanding playmaker at the highest level.

1) Erling Haaland

At the time of writing, the Norwegian poacher has scored 28 times in 26 league appearances since his arrival at the Etihad last summer.

Injury permitting, Haaland should break the Premier League record for the most goals. The current record for 38 games is Mo Salah (32) and the most in total is jointly held by Andrew Cole & Alan Shearer (34).

The striker is odds-on favourite for this campaign’s PFA Player of the Year and rightly so, considering his remarkable goalscoring ability.
