CIES Football Observatory published their bi-annual list a couple of weeks ago detailing the highest valued players based on their positions.

After looking at the most valuable forwards in our post last week, we have moved on to looking at the midfielders.

CIES utilise an algorithm that processes eight different variables to calculate transfer value. Contract length, age, career progression, inflation, recent performances, international status as well as the club’s sporting and economic levels are all taken into account.
