Tielemans Responds To Speculation That He Could Make City Switch

Monaco midfielder Youri Tielemans has confirmed that he has an agreement to leave the Ligue One club this summer and that he is in talks with a number of teams.

The Belgian revealed clubs have inquired about signing him with his agent and that a move away from France is very likely:


“It is true that several large clubs have polled my management. There is also an agreement with Monaco that I can leave this summer.”

When asked if Manchester City could be a potential destination, Tielemans was coyer with his response:

“It is true that after the game at Manchester City I exchanged a few words with Pep Guardiola, but you should not look for anything else.”


Tottenham, Arsenal, Manchester United and Leicester have also been reported as teams that are interested in the 22-year-old.

Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at the Foxes and impressed many observers with his performances, including the aforementioned Guardiola.

The Belgian international made 13 appearances in the Premier League, scoring three goals and providing five assists.

Tielemans is currently away with Belgium and is expected to feature for his country when they face Kazakhstan at home this evening in a Euro 2020 qualifier.
