TOP FIVE Strikers Who Will Become Free Agents At The End Of This Month

Roberto Firmino

It’s getting very close to the time when a whole host of players across European football are released from their contracts.

If they haven’t signed pre-contract agreements already, some top stars are about to become free agents.

Certain clubs will be hoping to pick up a bargain or perhaps take a chance on a player who, for whatever reason, has been allowed to run down his current deal.

Press the next page as we list five strikers whose contracts end this month.

1) Marcus Thuram – Borussia Monchengladbach

The World Cup finalist is expected to run down his contract and leave Gladbach when his contract expires on June 30th.

A number of Premier League teams, including Chelsea and Manchester United, have been credited with an interest in Thuram.

However, it does appear as if Paris Saint-Germain have won the race for the France international’s services.

The 25-year-old scored 16 goals in 32 appearances in the Bundesliga this season so PSG will be delighted to secure his services on a free.

2) Roberto Firmino – Liverpool

After eight years on Merseyside, the Brazilian international has decided to call time on his career with the Reds.

Firmino has won every major trophy going, and he was an integral part of a front three that conquered all before them domestically and in Europe.

Real Madrid have been credited with an interest in the forward, as have Barcelona, but there are likely to be plenty of suitors in Italy too.

At 31 years of age, Firmino still has plenty left to offer, especially in another country where the pace of the game is not as high.

3) Ben Brereton Diaz – Blackburn Rovers

The Chilean international is expected to leave Ewood Park when his current deal expires at the end of the month.

Brereton-Diaz has scored goals for Blackburn on a regular basis in the Championship over the past few years and he has been linked with a number of Premier League clubs.

However, it seems as though the striker will be moving to Spain, with Villarreal said to be his most likely destination.

Nothing has been made official yet but it is believed that Brereton Diaz has signed a pre-contract agreement with the La Liga club.

4) Moussa Dembele –  Lyon

The former Celtic player has had a turbulent last few years. He was loaned out to Atletico Madrid in January 2021, only for the Spanish club to opt against signing him on a permanent basis.

Dembele then had a strong season for Lyon, scoring 21 times in all competitions, but he has struggled to find the back of the net this campaign, with just three goals in all competitions.

That is likely why the 26-year-old has not been able to find a new club yet. A Premier League team may look to take a chance on him, especially as he is available on a free.

Whether he can recapture the sort of form that has seen him score a goal on average every 2.4 games in his professional career, it remains to be seen.

5) Alfredo Morelos – Rangers

The Colombian international has opted to end his long association with the Scottish club after six years.

Morelos was a prolific scorer for the vast majority of his time at the Gers, and he was also pretty good in terms of hitting the back of the net in European competitions.

The 26-year-old scored 33 goals in 69 Champions League and Europa League fixtures, suggesting he could have the potential to play at a higher level than the Scottish Premiership.

Morelos has been tipped for moves to Turkey and Italy but we shall see where he ends up.
