Manchester City and Real Madrid are both keen on signing Chelsea right-back Reece James, according to The Athletic‘s Simon Johnson.
The journalist claims that, while the Blues are keen on tying down the 22-year-old to a new contract, they are still looking at potential replacements with PSG’s Achraf Hakimi being eyed:
Piece on new #CFC owners and some of their plans/ideas:
• End to Abramovich’s hiring/firing policy
• Increase revenue streams
• Post season get-together another sign of personal touch
• busy summer transfer window – ins and outshttps://t.co/MRdslmN7OS

Supporters on Twitter would be very much behind a move for James, although some are not sure that the Citizens would have a chance of prising him away from Stamford Bridge:
Top player …. I’d be delighted with this

Johnson has linked James with a move to City before so there is definitely some substance to this story but it is difficult to believe that the defender would consider moving from Chelsea to a direct rival.
Unless there are other issues that we are not aware of, you can’t see James leaving the London club, who he first started training with at the age of six.
