Bursaspor forward Ali Akman has revealed he turned down Manchester City and a number of other high profile teams to secure a move to Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

Chelsea and Arsenal were also reportedly tracking the 18-year-old, but the striker says he feels the Bundesliga is the best league for him to continue his development:

“There were offers from Italy and Spain, from Atalanta and Valencia for example. Manchester City was a serious candidate. I thought that I could enjoy a better education in Germany.”

However, Akman also said he has ambitions of playing in English and Spanish football in the future once he has improved as a player:

“First of all, I want to put people in a good mood there and play in the European Cup. In the long term, however, I want to play in the Premier League or LaLiga.”

The teenager actually named three clubs he would like to join: Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool, but there is no doubt that he would also consider Manchester City again in the future if the opportunity arises.

Akman has been in excellent form playing for Bursaspor in the Turkish second tier this season, scoring 10 goals in 18 league appearances but we shall see if he can replicate those numbers at a higher level.
