Manchester City are considering a bid for Real Sociedad winger Mikel Oyarzabal, according to reports in the Spanish media.
The 22-year-old has a €75m (£68m) buyout fee that the Citizens are willing to pay. They would only trigger the release clause, though, if they sell Leroy Sane to Bayern Munich this summer.
Fans on Twitter were generally against the move for Oyarzabal with most preferring to keep Sane or go after another target instead:
Very good player, the next best thing in La Liga(don’t say much if you don’t watch it)

I REPEAT! HE IS NOWHERE NEAR CLOSE TO SANE’s LEVEL!! THIS IS A JOKE! If anything add £60m to whatever we get from the Sane sale and get Mbappe! That’s what u call a replacement !!!

If we sell him, we’re stupid.

Oyarzabal scored 14 goals and laid on four assists in 41 appearances for Real Sociedad last season, and is highly rated in Spain.
He’s already made his debut for Spain’s senior side, scoring his first goal for his country in a Euro 2020 qualifier back in October. He scored the third after coming on as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Sweden.
Oyarzabal generally plays from the left-wing, but he can also play from the right-hand side. For Spain, at the European Under 21 Championships earlier this summer, he actually was selected as a forward and scored against France in the semi-finals.
