VIDEO: Guardiola Reveals City’s Transfer Stance Ahead Of January Window

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has ruled out making any signings in the January transfer window. Speaking ahead of the game against Burnley this evening, the Spaniard was adamant no one would be brought in midway through the season:

It seems that Guardiola believes the type of player that would add to the squad for the long term, would not be available during January. A centre-back would be top of the Citizens’ priorities but as Aymeric Laporte is expected to be back within six weeks, it makes a transfer when the window opens less urgent.

It must be said there has been a distinct lack of transfer speculation surrounding City in recent months, and fans would probably be wise to take Guardiola at his word.

It may be a disappointment to some, considering there are clear deficiencies in defence, but it appears that unless a world-class talent becomes available, there will be no change in the club’s transfer policy.
