Real Madrid legend Iker Casillas has named Manchester City number one Ederson as the second-best goalkeeper in the world.
The Spaniard placed Thibaut Courtois at the top of his list, with Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak third, Barcelona’s Marc-Andre ter Stegen fourth and Bayern Munich’s Manuel Neuer fifth.
Fans on Twitter were delighted that Casillas rated Ederson so highly, although they did notice that he didn’t select any other Premier League keeper in his top five:
Who are we to argue with one of the goats of goalkeeping 😭

His calm under pressure and ball playing taking for granted. There isn't a better keeper that fits the man city system.

Casillas’s omission of Liverpool’s Alisson Becker is probably the most surprising. Chelsea’s Edouard Mendy would have been a strong candidate previously after two outstanding seasons for the Blues but his poor form in recent weeks means Casillas has understandably left him out.
The lack of Spanish shot-stoppers is also interesting, with Casillas snubbing his fellow countryman David De Gea. The Manchester United shot-stopper’s poor performances in recent years, though, mean his absence from the list is more than justified.
