Wolves superstar responds to Manchester City rumours

Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves says he remains fully focused on life at Molineux despite rumours linking him with a January move to Manchester City.

Reports earlier this week suggested the Portugal international had emerged as a surprise target for City boss Pep Guardiola, who is keen to land a new defensive midfielder.

City missed out on their two top targets Fred and Jorginho to Manchester United and Chelsea, and Guardiola is now thought to have turned his attention to Neves, and could make a phenomenal £60 million for him swoop after Christmas.

But the 21-year-old midfielder, who has already impressed during his debut season in the Premier League – including at the weekend as Wolves and Man City saw out a 1-1 draw at Molineux – says he remains unbothered by such talk.

“Honestly, I don’t look to the future. I am committed here and I want to help the club achieve very good things. We have this year to work and to put Wolves where it deserves.”

He continued: “We know the project of the club, they showed us this year with the signings that they are looking forward to doing very good things in the future. For many players it is the first year in the Premier League, so we have to be calm. We work on that and we will try to put Wolverhampton on another level.
