Bayern Munich will attempt to lure Manchester City winger Leroy Sane away from the club this summer, according to reports in the UK.
The German international has yet to sign a new contract despite his current deal expiring in two years time, and City’s director of football Txiki Begiristain is said to be willing to sell up before his value drops.
Fans on Twitter are sceptical about the accuracy of the story but are hoping that Sane stays:
Worried this has legs

When you compare him too the transfers of coutinho and Pogba…he had too be worth 120 million plus…considering his age too.

Irrespective of the source, would anyone really be surprised by this? He’s done something to land in Pep’s doghouse as evidenced by the lack of starts and playing time in the crucial run to the Premier League title after Xmas.

Slightly worried that Leroy may leave. We need to ask for a ridiculous amount which I can’t see Bayern paying since they just signed Pavard and Hernandez for large amounts of money

Man City should not sell him less £170m

No way. If he’s leaving, should be nothing less than. 150

So sad. It is like your best player in his prime years leaving you because he don’t want to renew his contract. Anyone who gets him will have a player for 10 years. I still wish we keep him somehow

In addition to the contract situation, it is believed that Sane isn’t entirely happy with his role at City. Manager Pep Guardiola only gave him 21 starts in the league last season, despite the German scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists.
The 23-year-old is likely to be seeking assurances about his playing time before committing his long-term future. However, with Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Riyad Mahrez all competing for places on the wings, Guardiola may find it hard to give such guarantees.
