‘Worst We’ve Ever Had’ – These City Fans Are Not Happy With New Third Kit

Manchester City have unveiled the club’s new third kit this morning, and it’s fair to say that a lot of fans are not particularly happy with it.

The new design is predominantly purple but has an orange sash across the shirt, with purple shorts and predominantly orange socks:

Supporters on Twitter were pretty scathing about the design choices that Nike have gone with:

While City fans will remember the purple away kits of 1992/94 and 2007/08, the addition of orange to the jersey makes it a pretty garish design.

However, the inclusion of the sash is a nod to the club’s history, with it being used on a number of kit designs in the past. The last time it was used was on the Umbro white, red and black away kit in the 2009/10 season.

With Puma having reportedly signed a deal with City worth £50m a year to manufacture shirts from the start of 2019/20 season, many supporters will be hoping for some marked improvements on the replica kit front.
