‘Wrong Move’ ‘He’s Not A Pep Player’ Fans Less Than Enthusiastic As City Table Club Record Bid

Manchester City have had a £100m offer for Harry Kane rejected by Tottenham, according to reports in the UK.

The Citizens’ bid was a club record, eclipsing the £63.6m they paid for Rodri in 2019, but despite their club making a massive statement by going after Kane, fans on Twitter are not excited:

It seems City supporters have a number of misgivings. Kane’s age is one concern. The striker turns 28 in July and he is a lot older than another transfer target: Erling Haaland.

The England captain’s injury record appears to be another worry, with the forward having had a number of ankle injuries over the past few years. There are also question marks over whether he would fit into Pep Guardiola’s style of play.

All of these issues, combined with the fact that the cost of the transfer could spiral if the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea get involved, mean the signing has some major drawbacks.
