Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has played down reports that the club could re-sign former striker Edin Dzeko before the transfer window closes.
The Bosnian is said to have been offered to the likes of City, Manchester United and Chelsea after the forward fell out with his boss at Roma, Paulo Fonseca. However, Guardiola says the club aren’t looking for any new additions ahead of the deadline on Monday:
“He’s a Roma player and I will never discuss this kind of situation. My feeling is that we will finish the season with everyone that we started the season with, except maybe one player that everyone knows may be moving (Eric Garcia). I don’t think anything else will happen. We will see in the final few days.”
With Sergio Aguero struggling with the virus and other fitness issues, some supporters on Twitter are still keen for Dzeko to join on a short term deal to strengthen their options up front:

I think the one thing we forget about Edin is that he is excellent with the ball at his feet and his back to goal… I genuinely feel it will be a good addition for the remainder of the season with Kun’s problems

From Guardiola’s comments, it does seem like the prospect of Dzeko returning to the Etihad this month is very low. The 34-year-old may well be keen on the move but it appears the club are happy to go into the second half of the campaign without making any signings.
