City And Chelsea Both Send Scouts As Race For £44M Rated Ligue One Star Heats Up

Axel Disasi

Manchester City and Chelsea had scouts watching Monaco defender Axel Disasi last weekend, according to reports in the French media.

It is believed that the two Premier League teams, along with Paris Saint-Germain, had representatives in attendance as the centre-back scored in Monaco’s 2-2 draw against Nantes on Sunday.

Disasi has been on the radar of a number of English clubs in recent months, with Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham also keeping tabs on the player.

The 25-year-old actually made his debut for France at the World Cup, playing as a right-back in the 1-0 defeat to Tunisia, before making cameo appearances against Poland and Argentina.

Monaco are not expected to let Disasi leave on the cheap, with the Ligue One side said to be looking for around €50m (£44m). Whether City actually need someone like the Frenchman, it is up for debate. In terms of defensive reinforcements, there is a greater need to recruit a left-back rather than another centre-half.
