City ‘Close To’ Beating Liverpool And United To The Signature Of In Demand Belgian Starlet

Manchester City are closing in on the signing of Anderlecht holding midfielder Romeo Lavia, according to Het Laatste Nieuws.

The Belgian publication report that the Citizens are “close to” an agreement with the player, after he announced last week on social media that he would be leaving his current club. He is said to have turned down a new long term contract as he set his sights on a move to England.

Both Liverpool and Manchester United have also been scouting Lavia, but it appears that City have won the race for the 16-year-old.

The midfielder has yet to make his senior debut but he is said to be one of the most promising players coming through the system at Anderlecht, having already won caps at Under 16 level for Belgium.

As well as playing in midfield, he is also capable of playing as a centre-half, with his ability on the ball no doubt one of the main reasons City were attracted to signing him.
