City Issue Latest Update On Aguero And Silva’s Injuries Ahead Of Arsenal Clash

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero and John Stones will not be fit to face Arsenal on Sunday.

Aguero has been out for a number of weeks with a thigh injury, and the Argentine has still not returned to training ahead of this weekend’s clash. Stones picked up a hamstring problem in the Manchester derby and Guardiola is not certain how long the defender will be out for.

There is slightly better news on David Silva. The Spaniard did not feature in the 4-1 win over Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday due to a knock, but Guardiola says he will have a late fitness test to see if he can make the game at the Emirates:

“He’s not fit, on Thursday and Friday he couldn’t train, then we’ll see tomorrow. It was a kick on the leg that was painful, not a big issue.”

City’s other injuries are all long term. Aymeric Laporte is expected to be back sometime in January following his recovery from a knee injury, while Leroy Sane could return very soon after the Frenchman.
