City Make Enquiry For 60M Rated PL Playmaker As They Prepare For Life Without Bernardo Silva

James Maddison

Manchester City did make an approach for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison in January, according to the Daily Mail‘s Jack Gaughan.

While a deal is not expected to go through before the transfer window closes, the journalist believes that the 26-year-old will be looked at as an option for the summer:

Maddison has been a target for the likes of Newcastle, Arsenal and even Manchester United in the past, but Leicester have been holding out for a fee in the region of £60m to sell the player.

City’s midfield will undergo an overhaul at the end of the season. Captain Ilkay Gundogan is expected to leave when his contract expires in June but Maddison is more likely being considered as a potential replacement for Bernardo Silva.

The Portuguese international has been angling for a move away from the Etihad for quite some time, with Barcelona being his preferred destination and, if he does depart, it appears Maddison will be targeted.
