Crooks Names 3 City Stars Alongside Liverpool And Arsenal Players In His PL Team Of The Week

Manchester City trio Ederson, Kyle Walker and Phil Foden have all been selected in Garth Crooks’ Premier League ‘Team of the Week’.

The BBC pundit was particularly effusive in his praise of Kyle Walker, who demonstrated his strong mentality with his performance against Newcastle at the weekend:

“Walker was as professional as it gets against Newcastle, despite having played the entire match in Greece [versus Sevilla], converted his penalty in the shootout, lifted the trophy and then led his team out a few days later like it was another day at the office. With this sort of mentality City look like they are on course for another special season.”

Crooks was also full of compliments for Ederson, who put in a passing masterclass versus the Magpies, while he has challenged Foden to build on his excellent display at the Etihad on Saturday.

City’s hard work paid off

As Crooks points out in his praise of Kyle Walker, the turnaround between the Sevilla and Newcastle game made the win at the weekend all the more impressive.

Securing the UEFA Super Cup on Wednesday and returning home within 72 hours to deliver a result against a very tough opponent, demonstrates that the hunger for success is still there in the squad, despite having won the treble last season.

Who else made it into Crooks’ Team?

The pundit named Arsenal’s William Saliba and Tottenham centre-back Cristian Romero in a back three alongside Walker.

In addition to Foden in midfield, Crooks went with Liverpool’s Dominik Szoboszlai and Brighton duo Solly March and Kaoru Mitoma, with the latter having scored an outstanding solo goal in the 4-1 victory over Wolves.

Up front, Chelsea’s Raheem Sterling was included, despite the Blues losing to West Ham at the weekend. Liverpool forward Luis Diaz and Brentford’s Yoane Wissa made up the rest of the eleven.
