‘He Knows There Are Levels’ ‘Tell This To United Fans’ Reaction As £72M Signing Makes Frank Admission About City Star

Manchester United’s Rasmus Hojlund has labelled Manchester City’s Erling Haaland as the “world’s best striker.”

Hojlund has often been compared to the Norwegian international but, speaking to TV2, he insisted he is not anywhere near as good as the Premier League Golden Boot winner at the moment:

“I hope that one day I can reach his level, but right now, I think it is too early. Erling is in any case the world’s best striker, if not the world’s best footballer. I don’t really want to be compared to him, but I hope that one day I can be like him. Who knows? I am only 20 years old. We will have to see what it can end up with.”

City supporters on X agreed with Hojlund’s remarks and many have newfound respect for the Dane following his humble response:

Hojlund has some way to go to match the City forward

There is a lot of pressure on Hojlund’s shoulders after United spent £72m to bring him in from Atalanta in the summer.

As the player says himself, he is still only 20, and you also have to remember that he has had just one season playing in the major European league, scoring 10 times in 34 appearances. It’s hardly a record to compare with Haaland.

Haaland has even been criticised for his performances this campaign

Despite hitting the back of the net 8 times in 8 Premier League matches this season, there have been some critics questioning whether the 23-year-old has gone off the boil.

Haaland’s astonishing first year at City, which saw him break the record for the most Premier League goals in a single season, has certainly increased expectations but it’s absurd to be raising doubts about his form, especially when you compare his goal return to Hojlund and others.
