“I See Myself In Him” – Arsenal Legend Thierry Henry Lavishes Praise On Manchester City Star

Arsenal icon Thierry Henry believes there are a lot of similarities between himself and Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne.

Henry has worked closely with De Bruyne during his time with the Belgium national team and he says that the pair have almost identical personalities:

“I see myself a lot with Kevin De Bruyne. It’s very difficult to understand his brain. I came across him in the national team. What he sees, what he tries to do… I think for me, as a midfielder, a creator, he’s the best I’ve seen in this league. By a distance.”

“I’ll explain why I see myself in him. I had the same character. When something wasn’t going the way I liked. I used to lose my marbles. This guy is the same. If you take one piece of the watch, the watch doesn’t function the same. He gets frustrated. I used to be the same. I had a strong bonding with him. He is a special player. I think what we’ve seen with him is just crazy. I love him. He’s an outstanding player.”

It’s interesting to hear Henry’s insights about De Bruyne. We don’t usually see or hear much about the Belgian off the pitch, and it seems he possesses a steely determination to succeed, which has certainly held him in good stead as a player over the years.

A City player destined for the Premier League Hall of Fame

There is no doubt that De Bruyne will enter the Hall of Fame when his career is over, much like Henry. The Belgian has won five Premier League titles in six years.

On top of that, he has won the PFA Player of the Year on two occasions, whilst also being named in the Premier League Team of the Year four times.
