City Playmaker Set To Be Rewarded For Fine Form With New £200,000 A Week, Six Year Contact

Manchester City attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva is close to agreeing a new contract with the club, according to reports in the UK.

The Portuguese international has had an excellent second season for the Citizens, scoring eight goals and grabbing eight assists in 38 appearances.

Silva’s current deal is due to expire in 2022 but City want to extend his stay until 2025, which would keep the 24-year-old at the Etihad for the next six years.

The offer on the table would also double the midfielder’s wages to £200,000 a week and would tie the player down for his best years.

Silva signed for £43m back in July 2017, and while originally used out wide by manager Pep Guardiola, he has excelled playing in a more central role this campaign.

The absence of Kevin De Bruyne through injury has actually helped him to become a key playmaker for the club, and City fans will be delighted if negotiations over a new deal reach a successful conclusion.
