Manchester City are expected to offer centre-back Nathan Ake a new contract, according to reports in the English media.
The 28-year-old still has just under two and a half years remaining on his current deal but the Premier League champions are keen to reward the defender for his fine form by handing him a pay rise.
Ake is currently earning around £80,000 a week at the Etihad, but that will increase to £120,000 a week if he does agree to put pen to paper on the contract extension.
It is a surprising turnaround for the Netherlands international who looked poised to leave for former club Chelsea last summer, only for the move to collapse.
This season, Ake has made 26 appearances in all competitions, with 19 starts. Following Joao Cancelo‘s departure for Bayern Munich, he could well end up playing a good portion of his games at left-back between now and the end of the season.
