City Target Surprise £5m Move For American International As Bravo Replacement

Manchester City are keen on signing Colombus Crew goalkeeper Zack Steffen, according to reports in the English media.

The Citizens see the American international as a player with huge potential, and it is believed they will try and sign the 23-year-old in the January transfer window.

Claudio Bravo is sidelined for the long term with an Achilles injury and Steffen could well be brought in to be backup to first-choice Ederson, with reports indicating City will need to pay in the region of £5m to land the keeper.

However, as the American hasn’t played a great deal for the USA national side (with just six caps), it may take longer to get a work permit through.

It could mean that Steffen moves to the Etihad Stadium at the end of the season instead. Currently, Arijanet Muric is the club’s understudy to Ederson, and it may very well be the case that they will keep him as backup until Steffen arrives next summer.
