‘Sad News For Me’ ‘Wrong Decision’ Fans Not Happy As City Ace Undergoes Medical At Premier League Rival

Manchester City attacking midfielder Cole Palmer has undergone a medical ahead of completing his £45m move to Chelsea, according to the Daily Telegraph journalist Matt Law.

The Blues will pay £40m upfront, with another £5m in add-ons, for the 21-year-old after an agreement was reached on Wednesday evening.

Palmer’s move is set to be made official today before the transfer window closes. Fans on X are not pleased that the club are selling one of their best young players to a rival:

Palmer wanted game time

Even after the England Under 21 international impressed in the Community Shield and UEFA Super Cup, manager Pep Guardiola never hid the fact that Palmer could leave the Etihad this summer.

In an interview after the win over Sevilla in Greece,  Guardiola claimed that the winger was seeking to play regularly but he couldn’t offer any guarantees. The arrival of Jeremy Doku from Rennes added extra weight to the idea that Palmer was heading for the exit door.

City have raised over £150m in sales this summer

If Palmer’s move goes ahead as expected, the Premier League champions would have sold seven players for fees in excess of £150m.

Riyah Mahrez has left to join Al-Ahli for £30m, Aymeric Laporte has headed to Al Nassr for £23.6m, Yangel Herrera has left on a permanent basis for Girona, while youngsters James Trafford (Burnley), Carlos Borges (Ajax) and Shea Charles (Southampton) have all fetched sizeable amounts.
