City Join Chelsea And 3 Other Clubs Pursuing American Wonderkid After He Makes Senior Debut At 15

Manchester City are one of a number of teams “tracking” New York Red Bulls winger Julian Hall, according to the Evening Standard.

The 15-year-old became the second youngest player to make his debut in MLS after coming on as a substitute against Chicago Fire at the start of this month.

Hall’s exploits haven’t gone unnoticed and, in addition to City, he has also attracted the attention of the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

Chelsea, in particular, have been keeping tabs on the teenager for a while, after he scored 2 goals against the Blues in a youth team game earlier this year.

However, since then, Hall has signed a professional contract with New York Red Bulls, meaning City and other clubs can’t take him on trial.

What do City fans need to know about Hall?

The winger was born in New York, but he does have Polish ancestry, with his full name being Julian Zakrzewski Hall.

In the past 3 seasons, he has scored 28 goals in 33 appearances for the NY Red Bulls’ academy team. Hall came to the attention of many when he helped his team win the U-15 MLS NEXT Cup for the first time. The USA youth international scored 5 goals, and he was awarded the tournament’s MVP.

Since then, Hall has also won the Golden Boot at the GA Cup, where he scored a brace against Chelsea in the final. The youngster has played for New York Red Bulls’ second team as well in MLS NEXT Pro.

Prising him away from the Red Bull Group could be a challenge

After signing a three-and-a-half-year deal with NY Red Bulls in September, his club are not expected to sell him without receiving a significant transfer fee.

In addition, they can offer Hall a pathway to European football through their two teams: Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig. City may, therefore, have a job on their hands trying to secure his services.
