Napoli winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has refused to be drawn on reports that he is being pursued by Manchester City and a number of other Premier League clubs.

The Georgian international is thought to be in high demand but, when asked about his future, the player said that, while he is a fan of “many” other teams, he remains totally committed to Napoli:

“Real Madrid was my favourite team in my childhood. Now I am 100% focused on Napoli. I am doing my best to help the team.”

“I like many clubs but I’m not even thinking about my future as all I think about is Napoli and I feel so happy here.”

Scouts saw Kvaratskhelia play for his country last month

It is believed that Manchester City, along with Manchester United, Chelsea and Newcastle, had representatives watching the winger as Georgia lost 3-1 to Spain on November 19th.

Kvaratskhelia did get on the scoresheet, bagging his country’s equaliser, but it wasn’t enough as his side suffered defeat in the European Championship qualifier.

Napoli could scupper City’s plan to sign the player

Speculation about Kvaratskhelia’s future has increased recently due to the fact that Napoli have not been able to tie down the forward to a new contract.

Negotiations over an extension have stalled, prompting talk about a possible transfer. However, it should be noted that Kvaratskhelia’s current deal expires in 2027 and Napoli are under no pressure to sell.

The Serie A champions are, therefore, not likely to make things easy for potential suitors, with it being suggested that they could demand in excess of €100m (£86m) for the 22-year-old.

It is thought that they are reluctant to let two key players go at the same time. Victor Osimhen is also tipped to leave and, with the Nigerian’s contract expiring in 2025, he is the favourite to be offloaded first.
