Journalist Reveals England U21 International Is ‘Set To’ Leave City On Loan

Manchester City defender Luke Mbete-Tabu is “set to” join Den Bosch on loan for the rest of the season, according to London World reporter Chris Wheatley.

The journalist claims the England Under 21 international’s move to the Netherlands has been masterminded by former Arsenal scout Yousuf Sajjad, who joined the Eerste Divisie side as technical director back in January:

Mbete-Tabu has made three senior appearances for City, all during the 2021/22 season, and he spent last campaign on loan at Huddersfield Town and Bolton Wanderers.

Going to Den Bosch won’t exactly be a step up on the Championship or League One; the two divisions that the 19-year-old played in last season.

However, there is a good chance that Mbete-Tabu will get regular game time, and the hope is that he will return to the Etihad Stadium next year a better player.

A number of other City players could be loaned out before next week’s transfer deadline

The futures of Taylor Harwood-Bellis, James McAtee and Tommy Doyle all remain up in the air ahead of deadline day.

All three had loan spells in the Championship last year and, with the trio not likely to be part of Pep Guardiola’s first-team plans, temporary exits are expected before next Friday.

McAtee has actually been linked with Ajax in recent days, while Harwood-Bellis is believed to be a target for Leicester City and Leeds. Doyle, meanwhile, could return to Sheffield United.
