City Could Land The ‘Next Martinelli’ Who Has Been Lighting Up La Liga This Season

There is a “possibility” that Manchester City will sign Girona winger Savio this month, according to Sport.

The 19-year-old is currently impressing for the La Liga side, who have been the surprise package this season, keeping pace with Real Madrid at the top of the table.

Savio has been a keen part of the team, having scored 5 goals and provided 5 assists in 19 league appearances so far this campaign.

The Brazilian is currently on loan at Girona from French side Troyes but, as both teams are part of the City Football Group, Pep Guardiola’s side will have a say on the player’s future.

Sport claim that Troyes are expected to hand over their “rights” to the player in January with City likely to be his destination.

He may not be playing for the Premier League champions any time soon but it does mean that, when his loan spell comes to an end at Girona, he could arrive in Manchester.

He has been compared to an Arsenal player

Savio’s speed and the fact that he is a winger who can play on either flank have led to comparisons being made in the media to his fellow Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli.

The Girona star does have some way to go to match the Arsenal star. After all, this is his breakout year and it is the first time he has scored more than two goals in a single season.

Other clubs are keeping tabs on Savio

It is believed that Barcelona are watching the forward, which is not surprising considering he impressed during Girona’s 4-2 win against them last month.

However, Savio’s future does very much lie in the hands of City, which demonstrates, once more, the club’s acumen in the transfer market.
