FPL: Why You NEED This Manchester City Star In Your Fantasy Premier League Team

As the Premier League season continues on, so does the FPL campaign – and if you have Manchester City superstar Julian Alvarez in your team, you’re probably well ahead of the competition.

Signed as a backup to Erling Haaland in the 2022 summer transfer window, his strong performances in a sky blue shirt have earned him a regular spot in Pep Guardiola’s coveted starting XI.

In fact, he has become so indispensable that Guardiola has been forced to adjust his tactics in order to fit the World Cup winner in. Last season, they generally lined up in a 4-3-3 formation – now, they seem to be preferring a 4-2-3-1 system, with Alvarez in the number ten role.

Why should you include Julian Alvarez in your FPL squad?

One of the most important aspects of a player in FPL is the likelihood of them starting or not. It is all well and good to snap up underrated talents – but if they aren’t being picked, what is the point in having them in your team?

While Guardiola loves to rotate his squad from time to time, Alvarez has started in all seven of the Citizens’ Premier League games this season so far.

Not only this, his goal contributions have been excellent. As things stand, Alvarez has scored three Premier League goals and has notched up five assists.

Alvarez currently has 46 FPL points to his name after seven games – only Haaland, Ollie Watkins, Bukayo Saka, Son Heung-min and Jarrod Bowen have accumulated higher tallies.

What’s more, all of the players we have just mentioned are more expensive than Alvarez is – at just £7.0, the Argentine is a real bargain this year.

Which other Manchester City players could you add to your FPL team?

As we mentioned earlier, it can be difficult to recommend City players to add to your FPL team, given Guardiola’s policy of rotation. Haaland goes without saying – 91.8% of FPL players have him in their team.

Kyle Walker would be an excellent addition to your squad – he is a mainstay in the starting XI and offers both goal contributions and assists, even if he has yet to do so this season.

Additionally, Phil Foden has also been brilliant thus far – at £7.6, he is a tad expensive, but he is getting better with each passing game – he has scored a single goal and notched up three assists in the current campaign.
