Gary Neville Speaks Out On Who He’d Like To Win The Champions League Between City And Liverpool

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was pretty forthright in his response when asked by Jamie Carragher if he’d prefer Manchester City or Liverpool to win the Champions League this season.

The former Manchester United defender is adamant he “wouldn’t want” Liverpool to lift their seventh European Cup and, when pushed on whether he could accept City winning their first instead, he replied:

“Probably. Yeah, I would. For United, it’s more about becoming the most successful club.”

With City and Liverpool both into the quarter-finals of the Champions League, both do have a great chance of going all the way this season. After losing in the final against Chelsea last campaign, though, there will be extra motivation for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Other than the two rival English teams left in the competition, and perhaps Bayern Munich, there isn’t anyone that City will feel can stop them from making it to the final in Paris. However, they will still need to negotiate some tough knockout round ties over the next couple of months.
