John Obi Mikel Names City Star As He Is Asked Who Has The Best Right Foot In The World

Ex-Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel says Manchester City legend Kevin De Bruyne has the best right foot in world football.

When asked by Goal’s TikTok channel for his opinion, Mikel opted against picking former Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo and chose De Bruyne instead:

“I know the [Cristiano] Ronaldo fans are going to kill me but I’m going to go [with] Kevin De Bruyne.”

De Bruyne doesn’t always get the recognition he deserves, despite his wand of a right foot, so Mikel’s comments will be welcomed by City supporters.

You only have to look at the stats to see why Mikel picked De Bruyne

Across 590 appearances in senior football, the Belgian has scored 144 goals and provided 239 assists. He averages a goal contribution every 1.54 games; with the vast majority using his root foot.

De Bruyne has shown over the years that he can create all types of goals from crosses, through passes, raking diagonal balls, as well as scoring tap-ins or howitzers from long-range.

His return to fitness has come at a perfect time for City

Any team would miss the presence of someone like De Bruyne, and his absence since the opening day of the season has been keenly felt by Pep Guardiola’s side.

After two substitute appearances against Newcastle and Tottenham, though, the 32-year-old looks poised to make his first start for City since his return from a serious hamstring injury.

As long as De Bruyne stays fit for the rest of the campaign, there is every chance that the Cityzens can compete for trophies on all fronts. After the win against Spurs at the weekend, they are through to the fifth round of the FA Cup. Although they are 5 points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, they do have a game in hand, while they are into the last 16 of the Champions League.
