Latest Man City Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On John Stones, Phil Foden And Erling Haaland

Manchester City defender John Stones will be fit to face Brighton on Thursday evening.

The 29-year-old was forced off at half-time during the 1-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup semi-final at the weekend.

However, Stones was pictured in training with the rest of the squad earlier this week and it was anticipated that he would be available for the trip to the south coast.

Whatever the issue was, it seems like it was only a minor knock so a start at the Amex cannot be ruled out.

Expected Return Date – Thursday 25th April v Brighton

Unlike Stones, Phil Foden did start and finish the FA Cup victory against Chelsea but there were concerns about his fitness in the aftermath of the game.

The attacking midfielder played no part in the open training session on Tuesday, sparking concerns about his fitness.

However, speaking about Foden (and Stones) ahead of the Brighton fixture in his pre-match press conference, manager Pep Guardiola said the pair would both be “ready” to feature.

Considering the City boss has raised concerns about burnout over the past week, there is a possibility that Foden will be rested for the Seagulls clash. With a Premier League title on the line, though, he may be tempted to keep him in the starting eleven.

Expected Return Date – Thursday 25th April v Brighton

Erling Haaland will not be available for the Brighton fixture, having picked up a minor knock in the build-up to the game.

In his pre-match press conference on Wednesday afternoon, Guardiola played down the seriousness of the injury by saying:

“Erling is not ready for tomorrow. I know it is not a big issue, but he is not allowed for this game.”

Whether Haaland will be back in contention for the match against Nottingham Forest on Sunday, we shall have to wait and see.
