Latest Man City Injury News And Expected Return Dates: Updates On Kevin De Bruyne, Phil Foden And 2 Others

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has refused to be drawn on whether Kevin De Bruyne and Phil Foden will be fit to face Luton on Saturday afternoon.

De Bruyne picked up food poisoning prior to the 3-3 draw against Real Madrid midweek, while Foden was taken off in the closing stages with a dead leg.

The pair were pictured taking part in the warm-down after the game, but it’s unlikely that either player will be risked ahead of the second leg versus Real next week.

A place on the bench for one or both players against the Hatters this afternoon is, however, a possibility.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 13th April v Luton Town

Guardiola was keeping his cards close to his chest when asked about the availability of Kyle Walker as well.

The right-back has not been seen in action since he was substituted early on in England’s friendly against Brazil last month.

Walker is believed to have sustained a hamstring injury and Guardiola has said that the fullback was prepared to risk his fitness in order to play.

However, City’s medical staff are taking precautions and they don’t want the defender to pick up a more serious problem which would keep him sidelined for a longer period.

Expected Return Date – Wednesday 17th April v Real Madrid (Champions League)

Nathan Ake’s fitness is also somewhat of a mystery. The Dutchman was forced off in the early stages of the 0-0 draw versus Arsenal at the end of last month.

It is believed that the centre-back sustained a calf injury which was estimated to keep him out for at least a few games.

However, Ake has not been named in the matchday squad for City’s last four matches, prompting speculation that the issue is slightly more serious than originally thought.

The 29-year-old is not expected to be fit to face Luton but it is hoped that he won’t spend too much longer on the treatment table.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 20th April v Chelsea (FA Cup)
