John Stones does not need surgery on the thigh injury he sustained in the second leg of the Champions League playoff round against Real Madrid.

The centre-back will undergo more conservative treatment, with it being hoped that he will return to action within 10 weeks.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 3rd May v Wolves

Manuel Akanji did undergo an operation on a torn adductor muscle that he picked up in the first leg of the Champions League tie versus Real.


His recovery time is believed to be 8 to 10 weeks, so he is set to return to fitness at roughly the same time as Stones.
