Man City winger Jeremy Doku is an injury doubt ahead of Man City’s next game, which comes against Leeds on Saturday.
The Cityzens could close the gap to rivals Arsenal to just two points if they manage to beat Leeds on Saturday, although it won’t be easy, because Daniel Farke’s side is one of the most in-form teams when it comes to home form.
Pep Guardiola will be pleased with City’s recent form, though, as they managed to beat Newcastle United 2-1 last weekend, in an impressive display.
Furthermore, the Man City boss may get a boost, as there is a chance that star winger Jeremy Doku could make a return against Leeds after over a month out with a calf injury. It is more likely that he’ll return in the following fixture against Nottingham Forest though.
Doku wasn’t ready for the Newcastle game, but Guardiola will hope the Belgian international will be fit enough to feature on Saturday.
Expected return date – Saturday 28 February vs Leeds United (A)
Max Alleyne
Centre-back Alleyne suffered a knock earlier in the month during the FA Cup win against Salford City, and has since missed the game against Newcastle.
He is getting closer to a return, but seeing as Guardiola hasn’t spoken about him since the Salford win, it isn’t exactly clear how severe his injury is.
Expected return date – Saturday 28 February vs Leeds United (A)
Josko Gvardiol
Gvardiol suffered more of a serious injury, as he suffered a tibial fracture at the start of January, which virtually ruled him out for the remainder of the season. It required surgery at the time, and he is currently recovering.
Pep Guardiola said not long after Gvardiol’s injury: “We’re in a difficult situation [defensively] not for one game, but for a long, long period.”
It indicated just how serious Gvardiol’s problem was, and it looks as though he may not return before the end of the season, which is a huge loss for City.
Expected return date – May/June 2026
Mateo Kovacic
Kovacic will miss the Leeds game, as he continues to recover from the ankle injury that he suffered in the summer. He has only made two appearances this season for Man City.
The hope is that the Croatian midfielder may be able to return for the last couple of games of the season, but if not, he will target the World Cup for Croatia.
Expected return date – Sunday 24 May vs Aston Villa
