Man City Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Matheus Nunes And Jeremy Doku

Man City boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that fullback Matheus Nunes is back available for selection.

The Portuguese international has not made the matchday squad for the opening three games of the 2026/27 season – the Community Shield against Arsenal and the two league fixtures against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Speaking last week, Maresca said that Nunes “was still not 100%” fit, but he is now back in contention.

The 28-year-old is set to be on the substitutes’ bench this weekend.

Expected Return Date – Saturday 5th September vs Coventry City (h)

Jeremy Doku

Maresca also revealed that the Belgian is still on the treatment table, having sustained a calf strain in the first half of the Community Shield defeat to Arsenal last month.

Providing an estimate for his return two weeks ago, Maresca said that Doku would be sidelined for “no more” than two to three weeks.

If the winger hasn’t had a setback, it would suggest that we should see him back on the training pitch not long after the Coventry game.

Doku will be determined to get back in time for the Manchester derby, and while that match is still 9 days away, it could be touch-and-go.

Expected Return Date – Sunday 13th September vs Manchester United (a)

New signings are available

Enzo Fernandez, Iliman Ndiaye and Allan arrived just before the transfer window closed on Tuesday night, and the trio should be in line to feature in upcoming matches. Speaking about the new additions in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Coventry game. Maresca said:

“I am very, very happy, from the effort from the ownership, Khaldoon [Al Mubarak], Hugo [Viana]. Iliman [Ndiaye] and Enzo [Fernandez] arrive and the squad is complete. Now it is time to work.”
