“I Used To Love Watching Him” – Dimitar Berbatov Decides Who Was Better Between City Icon And Didier Drogba

Ex-Manchester United striker Dimitar Berbatov believes that Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero was a superior player to ex-Chelsea star Didier Drogba.

Asked to decide between the pair, Berbatov admitted he was a huge admirer of the Argentinian international:

“Purely on the goals, I will go [Sergio] Aguero to be honest. I used to love watching him play as well. Balance, everything, I’ll go with him.”

Aguero scored 80 more goals than Drogba in the Premier League despite playing just 21 more games in the English top flight, which backs up Berbatov’s argument.

Aguero is well-regarded by many former players

Berbatov is not the only ex-professional to express his admiration for the City icon. Speaking about the same two players (Aguero and Drogba) back in September, Frank Lampard said that the Argentine striker was “the best” he had “played with.”

That is a huge compliment considering how many more matches Lampard played alongside Drogba compared to Aguero.

City fans are unlikely to value Berbatov’s comments that highly

Supporters won’t forget the fact that the Bulgarian international rejected a transfer to City before making the move to United. Speaking last year, the striker claimed that he swore at his agent after being told of the offer from the blue side of Manchester:

“They wanted to sign me on the last day of the market. I told my agent: ‘F*** off, we’re going to United.’ Because of the history, the prestige, the players, the manager, the shirt. I never had any doubt that Old Trafford was the right decision.”

Of course, it must be pointed out that City hadn’t won a Premier League title at the time and you can argue that Berbatov would have made a different decision if he was still playing today.
